Under warm sunny skies and slightly cloudy and breezy evenings, the Village of East Rockaway held its annual Stars & Stripes festival last weekend.
Residents and neighbors from nearby communities flocked to the waterfront area of the village, taking full advantage of the rides, games of chance, entertainment, food, and a spectacular fireworks display on Saturday night.
“The kids want to go on the rides and eat, and the adults wanted to just walk around and enjoy the great end-of-summer weather,” said Debbie Brody, who came to the fair with her husband, Doug, and their 12-year-old son and twin four-year-old daughters from nearby Hewlett. “We all go to do what we wanted. It was fun.” Brody said that she planned to stay for the fireworks. display.
The major sponsors for the festival were listed as PSE&G, Beechwood Homes, East Rockaway Veterinary Hospital and Reel. There were more than two dozen other sponsors.
