Three arrested in Lynbrook

Lynbrook Police Officer Jason Sigler was on patrol on Sunrise Highway at Forest Avenue when the license plate reader on his police vehicle picked up a reading for stolen car that he noticed was going in the opposite direction. The officer made a U-turn to go west on Sunrise Highway, attempting to catch up to the tan Toyota Corolla. 

According to police, when the officer approached Broadway, he observed an accident up ahead at Peninsula Boulevard. When he arrived at the accident scene he learned that the car he was following was involved, and had been reported stolen in Valley Stream earlier in the day.

According to an eyewitness at the scene, it was involved in a three-car collision. 

A shotgun was found in the front seat of the vehicle when police arrested Cyrus Cabay, 18, Ean Christian, 21, and Almany Traore, 16, all of Valley Stream.

The Lynbrook Fire Department responded with the Extrication Truck, but it was not needed.  The Emergency Medical Company responded and transported one of the injured drivers. Nassau County ambulances brought two of the subjects arrested to the hospital, and one was brought to Lynbrook police headquarters. There were no serious injuries reported.

“The license plate reader and the exemplary actions of Police Officer Jason Sigler made our community safer that night,” said Lynbrook Police Chief Chief Joseph Neve.

“I compliment our outstanding police force [that] continues to keep Lynbrook a safe village for all our families,” said Lynbrook Mayor William Hendrick.
