Lakeview Fire Department Ex-Chief Fred Senti III was honored by Hempstead town last week for outstanding community service during a Firematic Awards ceremony that recognized first responders throughout the township.

Senti, who followed in the footsteps of his father, grandfather, and sister, is an active member of the Lakeview Fire Department where he has served for more than a decade. The town recognized his commitment and his position as an important leader during the department’s response to Hurricane Sandy in 2012.

“Tonight, we honor some of the local heroes who put their lives on the line to serve their communities,” said Supervisor Anthony Santino during the ceremony.  “I am proud to present Hempstead Town’s bravest with our Firematic Award in recognition of their heroic and selfless acts.”

The ceremony honored 55 first responders representing 14 fire departments in the township including Baldwin, East Meadow, East Rockaway, Elmont, Inwood, Island Park, Lakeview, Lynbrook, Mineola, North Merrick, Rockville Centre, Stewart Manor, Uniondale, and Woodmere.
