Thousands of musically-talented high school students across the nation vie for a coveted spot to represent their high school in the U.S. Army All-American Marching Band each year and this year is no exception as one lucky East Meadow High School student was picked for the second consecutive year.

Jaden Nogee, a senior and fluent clarinet player in the East Meadow High School marching band, was selected to join the 2017 U.S. Army All-American Marching Band. Only 125 marching band members are selected to join the band, and Nogee was thrilled to receive the honor.

“Thank you to everyone who has helped me get to this moment,” Nogee said in a statement. “These are the people who are constantly challenging my abilities, expanding my horizons and providing me with amazing opportunities after opportunities.”

As a member of the U.S. Army All-American Marching Band, Nogee will perform in the highly-anticipated U.S. Army All-American Bowl halftime show in January in San Antonio, Texas. According to USArmyAllAmericanBowl.com, over 39,000 supporters attended the game, with more projected to watch on Jan. 7.

Late last month, All-American Games representatives and U.S. servicemen officially honored Nogee at the East Meadow High School with friends, peers and family looking on. After her recognition, Nogee received an honorary jacket, posed for photos and delivered a speech. During the ceremony, Staff Sgt. Justin Durant acknowledged Nogee’s talent and perseverance.

“Jaden Nogee has been selected as a 2017 U.S. Army All-American for embodying the characteristics and values of an Army soldier,” Durant said in a statement. “We are proud to have her on our team and to wear the All-American colors.”
