Buses Replace Train Service on West Hempstead branch Dec. 1 - 19

LIRR will be replacing railroad ties; doing resurfacing work during off-peak hours

Buses will replace train service between West Hempstead and Valley Stream from 9:21 a.m. until 3:50 p.m. on 15 consecutive weekdays beginning Monday, December 1 through Friday, December 19 while Long Island Rail Road workers carry out a track maintenance project.

The single main track between West Hempstead and Valley Stream will be taken out of service to allow for the installation of new railroad ties as well as resurfacing along the route. The work will be carried out on weekdays during the off-peak period only and will not impact weekend train service.

Westbound

Customers will board buses at stations West Hempstead through Westwood up to 19 minutes later than normal to travel to Valley Stream where train service will resume. They should anticipate up to 24 minutes of additional travel time.

Eastbound

Customers will travel by train to Valley Stream where they will board a bus that will stop at all stations from Westwood to West Hempstead. They should expect up to 18 minutes of additional travel time.
