Suozzi has picked up endorsements from Sens. Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, U.S. Reps. Carolyn McCarthy and Steve Israel, state Comptroller Tom DiNapoli, Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages, the nine Democratic county legislators, a dozen village and city mayors, the Working Families Party, the Long Island Federation of Labor, several other unions, and numerous Democratic clubs.

Suozzi says that he is the best person for the position because of his experience as Nassau County’s executive.

Why are you the best candidate to challenge the current county executive?
We had eight years of Suozzi. Tom came into office under a financial control board, left under a financial control board and destroyed the county’s finances in between. If Tom were a competent executive, I wouldn’t be running and my campaign certainly wouldn’t have the groundswell of support it does. I’m not a career politician and I’m not looking to climb the political ladder. I’m running for county executive because I care. I want to help my community, get the county on track and then return to the private sector.
