Five positions up for election in Malverne

The village election is set for March 18, and to date there has been no word regarding who, if anyone, will challenge any of the incumbents in the five positions in Malverne government that will be up for election — mayor, three trustee seats and village judge.

Mayor Patti McDonald confirmed with the Herald on Monday that she will be running for another term, as will all the present trustees and Village Judge James Frankie. The trustee seats now held by Keith Corbett and Patricia Callahan have four-year terms. Tony Marino, who was recently appointed to the seat left vacant by the death of Deputy Mayor Joe Hennessy, is running for a two-year term.

Those who are interested in running must file a petition by Feb. 10, according to Village Clerk Terry Emmel. For more information, contact Village Hall, at (516) 599-1200, or visit the New York State Board of Elections website, www.elections.ny.gov/RunningOffice.html.
