House fire on Eimer Ave. in Malverne

A quick-burning fire that started on the porch of an Eimer Ave. home in Malverne, and rapidly began spreading to other rooms of the house, was swiftly extinguished by the Malverne Fire Department last Sunday morning.

The cause of the fire was unknown, fire department spokesperson David Gildea said, but an old appliance may have been to blame.

The fire’s location was close to the Malverne Fire Department, and two engines and two trucks were on the scene within seconds, said Gildea.

“Our guys really got to this quickly and made an aggressive interior attack,” he said. “That was the reason we were able to get it under control so quickly, because it was one that could’ve gotten out of control very easily,” he added.

The homeowners made it safely out of the house, and there were no injuries or treatments reported.

Five neighboring fire departments provided mutual aid, and included the Lakeview, Valley Stream, Franklin Square, and Lynbrook fire departments.
