During the July town board meeting last Tuesday, the Town of Hempstead awarded a $1.4 million road improvement contract to Richard W. Grim, Inc. of Remsenburg. The company was the lowest of six bidders to the project.

Road improvement work will focus on the following areas:

West Hempstead: South Cherry Valley Avenue, from Hempstead Turnpike to Roosevelt Boulevard.

Garden City South: the intersection of Wellington Road and Princeton Avenue. This is a storm drain project.

Elmont: The entire length of Lincoln Street; Terrace Avenue, from Hempstead Turnpike to Atherton Ave; Sewanee Ave - from Hempstead Turnpike to Atherton

The Town said it expects work to start in approximately four weeks and to be completed in the late fall.
