PTAs urge support of school budget

To the Editor:

On Tuesday, May 17, residents of Rockville Centre will have the chance to come out and vote on our school budget. At recent meetings, members of our school PTAs voted to support the 2016-17 budget. We urge all residents to get out and vote at South Side High School between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.

For the fifth year in a row, our Board of Education trustees and the school district have worked diligently to preserve existing academic and extracurricular programming while maintaining a budget within the tax cap levy limit.

We are proud of the accomplishments of our students and our district, as South Side High School was recently ranked the No. 2 high school on Long Island, and No. 15 in New York State by US News & World Report.

Please take a moment out of your day to vote “Yes” and support the budget to:

continue the academic excellence our community expects.

preserve the programming that could be at risk under a contingency plan.

invest in our community and put our children first.

Let’s work together as a community to support our children. Please join us in voting “Yes” on Tuesday, May 17 at South Side High School.

Vote ‘Yes’ on budget

To the Editor:

The PTAs of Hewitt, Covert, Riverside, Watson, Wilson, South Side Middle School and South Side High School recently voted to support the 2016-17 proposed school budget.

The strength of our school district depends on its ability to both retain effective programs and resources, and to evolve to accommodate new educational initiatives. The proposed budget accomplishes both of those goals, while remaining under the allowable tax cap.

The Rockville Centre School District continues to be heralded for its excellence both inside and outside of the classroom in academic, athletic and other extracurricular areas. Join us in maintaining the strength of our school district by voting “Yes” on May 17 at South Side High School.
