Nassau County police reported the arrest of a Lakeview man on March 8, at 9:30 p.m.
According to police, as part of Operation Natalie, Nassau County’s War Against Opioids, detectives were investigating a fatal and non-fatal overdose from Lakeview. The investigation led police to the parking lot of 1017 Woodfield Road where they arrested the defendant, Lawrence Yearling, of 933 Orlando Avenue. Police said that Yearling, 28, is directly linked to the fatal and non-fatal overdoses and was in possession of 27 white glassine envelopes stamped with “Get Rich or Die Tryin,” believed to contain heroin and 10.5 grams of crack cocaine at the time of his arrest. The stamped envelopes are identical to the ones found on the fatal and non-fatal overdoses.
Yearling is charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal sale of a controlled substance. He was arraigned on March 9 at First District Court in Hempstead.
The Nassau County Police Department told residents that as part of Operation Natalie and their Multi Prong Approach of Education, Awareness, Enforcement, Treatment, Diversion and After Care Visits, they will continue with a zero-tolerance response to any illegal drug activity within Nassau County.
