Q. A lot of trees came down around my neighborhood in the last big storm. Is there anything I can do to keep my trees safe, and is it allowed to put in wire tie-downs to keep my trees tethered during a storm? more

50-mph winds, rain slam Bellmore-Merrick

A nor’easter packing heavy rain and winds with gusts up to 50 mph slammed into the Bellmore-Merrick area Saturday into Sunday, downing trees and power lines, and sending local fire departments hurrying to keep up with calls.
