Jacob Rakhimob, Jocelyn Yeung and Gabby Cunha raced down a bouncy slide at a carnival organized by the Merrick School District’s summer recreation program on July 31 at Birch School. The carnival was a highlight of a summer, with arts and crafts, sports and enrichment learning for Merrick elementary school children.

The tables full of games of chance were out. And, most important, the children were already on the back field at Old Mill Road Elementary School, prepared for a morning of fun at the program’s annual Penny Carnival. more
