Candidates for offices that represent Bellmore and Merrick will make their pitches to voters this week at two Merrick events.

Four local groups — the North and Central Merrick Civic Association, North Bellmore Civic Association, South Bellmore Civic Association and South Merrick Community Civic Association — will host a “Meet the Candidates Night” at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at the Merrick Road Park golf course clubhouse, at 2550 Clubhouse Road. SMCCA President Joe Baker said the organizers invited candidates for U.S. Congress, State Senate, State Assembly and judgeships. Refreshments will be served. More information is available by calling Baker at (516) 978-8310.

The next night, Wednesday, Oct. 29, the League of Women Voters of East Nassau will host a “Candidates Forum” at 7:30 p.m. at the Merrick Library, at 2279 Merrick Ave. In a flier, the voting-rights group said it invited candidates in four State Legislature races:
