Cops: AT&T store robbed at gunpoint

Two men robbed the AT&T store at 186 Merrick Road in Merrick around 9 p.m. on Monday, Nassau County police said.

One of the men forced two employees into a bathroom at gunpoint and then directed the manager to fill garbage bags with cell phones. He also ordered the manager to open the store safe and remove an undisclosed amount of cash.

Meanwhile, his accomplice waited outside in a getaway car, according to police.

Detectives described the first man as black, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and dark sweatpants. He covered his face with a dark cloth and wore white gloves.

The second man was described as Hispanic, wearing dark shorts and a light shirt.

The car was a dark, four-door vehicle, according to a witness. The men were last seen driving west on Merrick Road.
