The college selection process can be a balancing act between academic pursuits, location and finances. Adding athletics on top of that could only add to the stress. However, students looking to pursue athletics in college need not feel overwhelmed. The Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District, in conjunction with the Bellmore-Merrick Community Parent Center and Nassau County Legislator Steve Rhoads, will hold a panel presentation to help with the selection process on Feb. 8, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at Kennedy High School in Bellmore.

Panelists will cover topics such as the overall recruiting process, the differences in the divisions of college athletics, the National Collegiate Athletic Association recruiting regulations and the NCAA Clearinghouse, scholarships and financial aid, college visitations, sports resumes, video clips, sports camps and using the internet as a resource.

Moderated by District Director of Physical Education, Health and Athletics Eric Caballero, the event will feature Hofstra University Men's Lacrosse Head Coach Seth Tierney, Division I; Hofstra University Women's Soccer Head Coach Simon Riddiough, Division I; Molloy College Athletic Director and Softball Coach Susan Cassidy, Division II; LIU and C. W. Post Wrestling Head Coach Joe Patrovich, Division II; Gettysburg College Football Assistant Coach Chris Re, Division III; SUNY Farmingdale Director of Athletics Tom Azzara, Compliance, Division III; Kennedy High School Athletic Coordinator Craig Papach; Mepham High School Athletic Coordinator Anthony Cracco and Mepham High School Guidance Counselor Carol Murray.

To register or for more information call Caballero at 516-992-1048 or the Community Parent Center at 516-771-9346.
