In Franklin Square since February, T & M Unique Bow-Tique & Party Palace is a work in progress. This colorful little shop is a true labor of love, the culmination of two artistic local moms who wanted to run a business while staying in town.

Mary Curran and Tami Martin started by working from their homes and bringing their wares to craft fairs. Curran has a flair for creating gift baskets, centerpieces and wreathes, and Martin does exquisite drawing. As their business grew, moving into a storefront became necessary.

While they sell many ready-made items, spanning every theme and season, personalized items are their specialty. Whether you embellish on a gift from the store, or have them create something from scratch, it’s a sure thing that you’ll have an item that is one-of-a-kind.

For example, “Diaper Cakes” — which usually contain from 60 to 140 disposable diapers — can be shaped like a bassinette, carriage or carousel. It can include receiving blankets, pacifiers, cups, bottles, lotions and even a piggy bank with the baby’s name.
Bridal ideas, from favors, to centerpieces to shower gifts, are endless. Choose a “Towel Cake,” or a basket filled with kitchen utensils, a bridal wreathe, or personalized wine glasses or beer mugs.

They have designer and handmade jewelry, hair bows, stuffed animals, festive storage containers, unique frames, rocking horses, and so much more. They even sell homemade chocolates. And just about anything can be artistically personalized.
Up front, shelves are stocked with gift items, festively filled baskets, handmade wreaths, etc. There’s a refrigerator filled with soda, juices, and snacks. The room in the rear is used for small parties, making crafts, and classes. Recently, they hosted a wreath-making class, and future plans include crocheting, and Mary Kay parties.

The store truly caters to any age, event or idea. Themes like sports, baking, barbecues, new babies, holidays, birthdays, religious events and more can be transformed into gifts, signs, baskets and wreathes. Children love their Pucker Powder machine, which fills up tubes with flavored powders (remember Pixie Stix?)

Photos of their many creations can be found on Facebook.com, by searching for T & M Unique Bow-Tique. Hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
