Five Kennedy students earn Intel badges
Scott Brinton/Herald
Five Kennedy High School seniors were recently awarded Intel research badges. Four of the honorees, center, from left, were Natalie Giovino, Joshua Pollock, Sara Rosenzweig and David Barsky. Joining them were their research advisers, at left, Helmut Schleith and Barbara Franklin, and right, Barbie Frank.

Rosenzweig is not only an outstanding student, but also an exceptional athlete. She has twice qualified for the New York State Championship in cross-country –– only Nassau’s Top 20 runners at the county championship make it to states. She has also recorded Kennedy’s second-fastest times in girls’ track for the 800- and the 1,500-meter races, behind Kennedy running great Maegan Krifchin, now 24, who was a contender for the U.S. Olympic team in the marathon last year.

Rosenzweig said she hopes to attend SUNY Geneseo, Brandeis or Muhlenberg next fall and study biology or pre-medicine, while also running cross-country and track.
