Kennedy High School’s annual Cougar Invite went off without a hitch under sunny skies last Saturday. As it does each year, the track invitational attracted hundreds of runners and spectators, who filled Kennedy’s bleachers and track on April 16.

Three-dozen teams from as far as Staten Island, Westchester and Suffolk County competed for medals throughout the day. The event began at 6 a.m. for Kennedy track members, who came to the school early to set up. Members of the track team also volunteered throughout the day to help run races and field events. Local teams competing in the meet included Mepham, Wantagh and Seaford.

The Herald Life was there to catch the action in video, including an interview with Kennedy girls’ coach Chris Mammone. We also asked members of the Kennedy track team to submit photos, which they took throughout the day. Some of their shots are found on this page.
