Life’s a carnival at Birch School

Posted

It was a pretty easy day for Merrick children on July 31 at Birch School. Their assignments: bouncy slides and castles, balloon-making, face-painting, beanbag toss, popcorn and cotton candy eating, hanging out with friends and family.

The children reveled at a carnival the Merrick School District’s summer recreation program held last Thursday at Birch. Each summer, the program gives children in kindergarten through sixth grade time to explore arts, crafts, sports and creative workshops. District teachers and eighth and ninth grade volunteers supervise the activities.
