Man tries –– and fails –– to rob Merrick Road bank

An unidentified white male entered the TD Bank at 2260 Merrick Road in Merrick on March 3 and handed a teller a note demanding cash. According to Nassau County police, she tore it up and threw it in the garbage. The man then ran off.
Detectives described him as 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-9, clean shaven, wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt, sunglasses and gloves.
Five employees and two customers were at the bank during the attempted robbery. No injuries were reported.
