Merrick 'flips' for Kiwanis Club pancakes

Posted

The sweet smell of pancakes with maple syrup and all the trimmings suffused the air at the Calhoun High School cafeteria on Sunday morning from 8 a.m. to noon when the Merrick Kiwanis Club hosted its annual pancake breakfast, with the proceeds benefitting local charities and families in need.

Kiwanis volunteers cooked up the pancakes, and members of the Calhoun Key Club and the Merrick Avenue Middle School Builders Club served up the food for the dozens of community members, including numerous Merrick Fire Department volunteers, who attended.

For $6, attendees received all-you-can-eat pancakes and sausages, served with juice and coffee. Senior citizens ate for $3. Local merchants donated the numerous raffle prizes.
