Nassau County police and federal agents say they raided the home of a 39-year-old North Merrick man on Wednesday night and seized large quantities of anabolic steroids and prescription painkillers.

Detectives from the Nassau County Police Department’s Narcotics/Vice Bureau reported that Antonio Daddi picked up a kilogram of powdered stanozolol, a synthetic anabolic steroid, at 2 p.m. on Wednesday from a “shipping location” in the Merrick area.

That night the county’s Narcotics/Vice Bureau, along with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations JFK Narcotics Smuggling Unit, entered Daddi’s home, where they say they found eight kilograms of anabolic steroid powder, 1,000 vials containing liquid anabolic steroids, 69 oxycodone/acetaminophen pills, 49 oxycodone pills, 44 hydrocodone/acetaminophen pills, 10,000 empty vials and 150,000 empty pill capsules. NCPD detectives then arrested Daddi.

He was arraigned Thursday on two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance at Nassau County’s First District Court in Hempstead. Shams Tarek, a spokesman for Nassau District Attorney Kathleen Rice, said that the Legal Aid Society of Nassau County represented Daddi at his arraignment. The Legal Aid Society does not comment on cases. A judge set Daddi's bail at $150,000 cash or $300,000 bond, according to Tarek.
