North Bellmore FD contains shed fire

The North Bellmore Fire Department contained a Bellmore Avenue shed fire last Thursday, preventing the blaze from spreading to nearby homes.
Firefighters arrived on the scene near the intersection of Bellmore and Ampel avenues around 4 p.m. on Aug. 7. First Assistant Chief Michael Rut said that while the shed burned to the ground, damage was concentrated to the structure and a surrounding fence.
The department extinguished the fire in about 15 minutes, Rut said. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Nassau County Fire Marshal’s office.
No civilians or firefighters were injured by the blaze. Rut also noted that there did not appear to be anything in the shed.
