Our taxes are sky-high, but the tax cap will help

In the meantime, New York’s new property tax cap will force change . . . I hope. People concerned about a lack of new revenues and rising costs will fight waste, fraud and abuse. They may advocate for less government or more sharing agreements. They will demand more state aid. They’ll insist on reforming unfunded state mandates, and they’ll push for smart growth. I’m a strong believer in the idea that every problem is solvable. It may take time, but once you realize what caused the problem in the first place, you at least have a fighting chance.
