Come join South Nassau to fight cancer!

A 5K Walk & Health Fair will be held this Sunday, Sept. 25, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Join your friends, family and neighbors at South Nassau Communities Hospital’s annual 5K Walk and Health Fair and help raise funds to assist patients at the Gertrude & Louis Feil Cancer Center. After the walk, explore the health fair and refuel with FREE screenings, fun family activities, food and more! The 5K Walk begins at 9 a.m. at South Nassau Communities Hospital, One Healthy Way at Merrick Road in Oceanside. For more information, call (516) 377-5370. Autism Speaks Walk in L.B.

On Oct. 2 join the Cancellieri family in Long Beach for the Annual Autism Speaks Walk. Founders of the RVC Blue Speaks campaign of the Long Island Autism Speaks chapter, the Cancellieri family is honoring their 3-year-old grandson, Louis, who was diagnosed last year as being on the Autism spectrum. Art talk

Ray Grist joins the Village Art Club’s first meeting of the new season, to lead a discussion on what is art, Thursday, Sept. 22, at 630 p.m. Grist, an imaginative and creative artist, who is an art teacher, lecturer, and art gallery owner, will bring along one of his works to raffle off. Beachside fun

Bid farewell to summer at the Town of Hempstead’s Family Festival by the Sea,  at Lido Beach (under the mushrooms), Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 24-25, 11 a.m.-6:30 p.m. The annual beachside event features varied activities for all ages, with entertainment, kids shows, petting zoo, eating contests, sand sculptures, games, tasty treats, and more.
