The school year has come to a close, and with it comes the announcement of Meadowbrook Alternative Program’s valedictorian and salutatorian.

Jordan Ladd and Chazz Opperman, of Merrick and Bellmore, respectively, have distinguished themselves with a number of academic achievements and accomplishments at the school.

Ladd, who will be attending Farmingdale State College in the Fall to study Bioscience, acted as MAP’s president for the Key Club and the GSA, was a Community Cupboard volunteer and was the student representative for the Board of Education. She is particularly proud of her founding of the MAP Greenhouse Project, for which she wrote the grant for funding.

Opperman, a future entrepreneur who hopes to one day own his own pet shop, was a BMCHSD Student Ambassador. He was also an active volunteer for the Family Project at GAMs and maintained a spot on the honor roll during his senior year.

“Surround yourself with people that are smarter than you,” Opperman said as a word of advice to future seniors. “I wish I’d done it sooner.”
