Police arrest N. Bellmore man for threatening with gun, find arsenal at his home

A North Bellmore man was arrested on Nov. 27 after allegedly threatening a woman and her 6-year-old at a 7-11, according to police.

After the arrest, police said, they discovered a virtual arsenal at the man’s home, and another undisclosed location.

At 11 p.m. at the 7-11, a 26-year-old woman called 911, because a man was threatening her and her son in the parking lot. The woman told police that the man pointed a gun at them. While she was on the line with the 911 operator, the man fired the gun into the air and fired twice, then fled the scene in a black BMW, police said.

Police investigated, and eventually arrested Michael Ripert, 21, of Pea Pond Road. At his home, they found an AK-47 rifle and 171 rounds, four large-capacity AK-47 magazines, a loaded pistol-grip shotgun and a Glock speed-loader.

At a second location, which police did not identify, they found a large-capacity Glock 9mm, two other Glock high-capacity magazines, a loaded AK-47 magazine and a box of 26 9mm rounds.

Police also determined that Ripert fired a gun multiple times on Montgomery Street in Wantagh on Oct. 28.

He was charged with two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, two counts of criminal possession of a firearm, two counts of reckless endangerment, second-degree menacing, third-degree endangering the welfare of a child and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

He was arraigned on Thursday in Hempstead.
