Last weekend’s heat wave wasn’t enough to deter some residents from perusing the natural parks in Bellmore, Merrick and Wantagh. The beating sun overhead encouraged geese, ducks and egrets to splash about in Mill Pond, or find solace in the shade of the park’s innumerable trees.
At the Norman J. Levy Park and Preserve, the humble herd of Nigerian dwarf goats hid in their homes to beat the heat. But the breeze rolling in from Merrick Bay was enough to soothe the sweltering summer weather.
