Bronx man arrested for Lakeview robberies

Nassau Police reported the arrest of a 19-year-old Bronx man for at least two Lakeview robberies that over occurred over the past week.

Jovon Robinson, of 3709 Laconia Avenue, Bronx, was arrested for an armed robbery that occurred at 1260 Howard Street yesterday, and an attempted robbery and assault of a teenage girl last week.

According to detectives, a 47-year-old man met Robinson in Lakeview through a phone application called “CLOSE5” in order to purchase an IPhone 6 from him. When the man and Robinson arrived at Howard Street, the victim inserted a SIM card into the phone, but the phone was locked and he refused to purchase it from Robinson.

When the victim tried to get back into his vehicle, the Robinson held the driver’s side door, put his hand on his waistband simulating a gun and threatened to shoot him. The man, in fear for his life, was able to free the door and drive off safely.

Officers arrested Robinson on the corner of Howard Street and Henry Street at 1:05 pm on October 18 without incident. A search incidental to arrest recovered a black electronic stun gun in his pants pocket.

After further investigation, detectives arrested Robinson for two additional robberies that occurred on October 13, 2016. One of these included an altercation with a young girl, who he punched in the face last week before trying to steal her cell phone.

Robinson is charged with robbery, attempted robbery, grand larceny, and criminal possession of a weapon. He was arraigned on October 19 at First District Court in Hempstead.
