Club wrestling team takes second place

The Flo-Res Majestic Freestyle Wrestling team out of Oceanside led by coaches Paul O’Rourke and Julio Flores took 2nd place at the Southampton Freestyle State Qualifier with 60 points on Sunday, April 7. The team was led by Senior Andrew Mercadante who was voted the Flo-Res Coaches “Most Outstanding Wrestler” and Sophomore Jarron Koretz earned the coveted “Champion of Champions” award in addition, every wrestler on the team qualified for the up and coming New York State tournament to be held upstate in May which included wrestlers Quinn O’Rourke, Kash Calderon, Brian Kiesche, Felix Hernandez, Michael Fishman, Milton Calderon, Tyler Davis and coach Julio Flores qualified by taking 1st place.” Coach O’Rourke and myself are very pleased by the way that our kids performed in this tournament. It was very exciting seeing them do so well being that this is the first time that they compete in this style of wrestling.” said coach Flores.
