Additionally, there will also be a special tribute to “The Greatest Generation” in commemoration of Pearl Harbor Day.

Stepping Back in Time

A Festive Evening
Take a moment from the shopping frenzy and experience festivities-colonial era style. The historic Rock Hall Museum invites everyone to its annual celebration, in the grandeur of the landmark estate, which is all dressed up for the holidays. Entertainment by the Long Island Resound Handbell Ensemble and refreshments add to the appeal of a visit to Rock Hall at this time of year, which offers a special perspective on local history. Considered to be one of the finest pre-Revolutionary War homes on Long Island, Rock Hall was built in 1767 for Josiah Martin, a wealthy West Indian plantation owner. The Georgian style home belonged to two of the area’s most famous families, the Martins and the Hewletts. It was deeded to the Town of Hempstead in 1948.
Sunday, Dec. 7, 6-8 p.m. $10. Reservations required. Rock Hall Museum, 199 Broadway, Lawrence. (516) 239-1157.
