Texas has it right on abortion laws

To the Editor:

Regarding Randi Kreiss’s column “Assault on women’s rights just don’t stop,” in the July 25-31 issue:
At age 86, I am so tired of women lamenting over their “right to choose.”
Since Adam and Eve, women have had that right — but Eve chose to eat the forbidden fruit, and was cast to hell with Adam. Grow up. Whether to get pregnant or not — that is the choice.
With sex education in the schools for years, there is no excuse for an unwanted pregnancy. There is a choice of rhythm, pills, gadgets, surgery and, of course, abstinence to prevent pregnancy.
Texas has it right to improve standards since Planned Parenthood receives taxpayer funding. They and other abortion clinics should be held to the same standards as a hospital operating room. Abortion is an invasive surgical procedure that, if botched, can turn into an emergency hysterectomy to save a woman’s life. As a nurse, I’ve been there and have witnessed the uterus being pierced. Luckily, the woman was in a hospital operating room. Could an abortion clinic have switched gears like that in 10 minutes? I think not.

Planned Parenthood counsels minor females about abortion without the consent of the parents, and that what is being aborted is just tissue. Wrong! A baby’s heartbeat starts in six weeks. Unlicensed personnel have been known to administer anesthesia, and infection is a major concern.

I would suggest tha Ms. Kreiss, join a pro-life group before she campaigns so rigorously for choice, and get the facts as to what is actually happening at Planned Parenthood and other abortion clinics. Pro-lifers go undercover and find out the truth as to what is really happening. Also, the liberal media has not published the fact that as abortion has increased, so has breast cancer — a distinctive link. How about that choice?

What a sad commentary on the women of America that killing the defenseless unborn is a top priority — how selfish and degrading.

Thank God for Texas, which, last month, passed one of the strictest anti-abortion laws in America. I pray the other 49 states follow suit — especially New York.
