Enjoyed serving the residents

To the Editor:
We would like to thank the residents of East Rockaway for the support they have shown us these past four years. We have enjoyed working for you and would have enjoyed doing so for the next four years. However, due to what we believe are missing petitions containing 500 East Rockaway residents’ signatures in support of our re-election, this in all probability will not be the case.
We would like to make this clear: We did not abandon our responsibilities to the residents of East Rockaway, nor did we abandon our desire to serve you for the next four years. In fact, we felt we were abandoned by our running mate, Mayor Francis Lenahan, who withdrew from the election and cast his support to Bruno Romano, Gordon Fox and Rich Bilello. Why were we simply dropped from the support of the Village Pride Party following the required signing of the petitions by us and the nominating committee chairman?
There was no primary to seek other candidates. We were told that we were the incumbents, running unopposed. We believe that a grave injustice was done — not only to us, but also to the residents who supported us. We leave you with these questions, and we urge you to consider the truthful answers before you vote in this upcoming election.
We want you to know that we are also seeking truthful answers to the actions of those responsible for the way in which we have been treated.
