Chiara String Quartet performs on the Adelphi University stage

Chiara String Quartet
The acclaimed ensemble returns to the Adelphi University stage for a dynamic evening of musical virtuosity. Their program includes Britten’s Three Divertimenti; Schubert’s String Quartet No. 13 in A Minor, Op. 29; and Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 13 in Bb Major, Op. 130 with Grande Fugue, Op. 133. Performing together since 2000, the Chiara Quartet features Rebecca Fischer and Hyeyung Julie Yoon, violins; Jonah Sirota, viola; and Gregory Beaver, cello. The ensemble is renowned for bringing fresh excitement to traditional string quartet repertoire as well as for creating insightful interpretations of new music.

Dog Days
Old Westbury Gardens goes to the dogs once again during its annual fall dog celebration. Enjoy an invigorating fall stroll through designated areas with your furry friend (leashed, of course) and fellow dog lovers. There’s also an afternoon of activities devoted to man’s best friend on Sunday. You and your four-legged companion can take part in a costume contest and parade, among varied activities, at 3 p.m. Participating animal welfare organizations are on hand, with information and displays.

Enchanted Halloween
Nassau County Museum of Art’s lush grounds provide the setting for a forest adventure in the spirit of Halloween. Stroll deep into the Enchanted Forest for a fantastical exploration, experiencing a whimsical world of imagination. On the forest journey, families will encounter creatures cared for by Volunteers for wildlife, enjoy storytelling and build tiny fairy homes.
