Obituary: William Madden Sr., 58

William Madden Sr., known affectionately to his friends and family as Bill, Billy, Dad and Grandpa, died peacefully on Nov. 24. He was 58.

Madden was born on June 19, 1957, in Brooklyn and was raised in Rockville Centre. He was a New York City Transit Police Officer and a member of the Oceanside Fire Department for 39 years. He was sworn in on July 27, 1976, and served as Captain in 1991 and 1992.

Madden was preceded in death by his parents Helen and Edward and his Aunt Emma.

He is survived by his longtime companion, Beverly, his sons Michael and William Jr. (Cheryl), his stepsons Bob (Roseann), David (Tracie) and Daniel (Rosella). He is also survived by his grandchildren Danielle, James, Giovanna and Mea, as well as his sisters Joan, Margaret (Anthony) and Patricia (Kenneth).

A funeral was held on Nov. 30 at St. Agnes Cathedral in Rockville Centre.
