Since 1928, South Nassau Communities Hospital has been providing high quality care to the communities of Nassau’s South Shore. It is one of the region’s largest hospitals with 435 beds, more than 900 physicians and 3,000 employees. The Hospital is an acute-care, not-for-profit teaching hospital that provides state‐of-the-art care in cardiac, oncologic, orthopedic, bariatric, pain management, mental health and emergency services.
In addition to its extensive outpatient specialty centers, South Nassau provides emergency and elective angioplasty and is the only hospital on Long Island with the Novalis Tx™ and Gamma Knife® radiosurgery technologies.
It is a designated Stroke Center by the New York State Department of Health and Comprehensive Community Center by the American College of Surgeons and is an accredited center of the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Association and Quality Improvement Program.
The hospital offers many free community education lectures, support groups, parenting and health education programs, including smoking cessation and fall prevention programs. It also offers free health screenings including head and neck, prostate and skin cancer screenings throughout the year.
South Nassau is an active member of the Oceanside community. It sponsors many community events including the Oceanside Chamber’s annual Country Fair, Oceanside Kiwanis Super Bowl Pancake Breakfast, Oceanside Kiwanis Summer Gazebo Poetry Reading Program and the Oceanside Rotary “Art Heyman Memorial Oceanside Basketball Featival.”
