The Oceanside Chapter of Hadassah held a Summer Tribute Dinner on August 6th at La Parma Restaurant in Oceanside to honor Lisa Shapiro, Membership VP who was the Myrtle Wreath Award Recipient honored in April, and Sandra Davis, Treasurer who was the Woman of the Year honored at the Nassau Region Hadassah Conference held in May. The Tribute Dinner event was attended by over forty Hadassah members, family and friends who supported these two extraordinary women.

Hadassah is the largest Jewish, the largest volunteer and the largest women’s organization in the United States. Hadassah is dedicated to educating and empowering women about their health, their rights, their religion and Israel.

Hadassah began in 1912 with its founder Henrietta Szold.

The Oceanside Chapter continues to participate in a variety of fundraising events throughout the year to earn funds to donate to Hadassah Hospital in Israel. The funds raised at the tribute dinner will be donated to Youth Aliyah/Children at Risk – Providing a safe haven in Israel. “Youth Aliyah villages provides a safety net of services- food, shelter, education and love- to immigrants and at-risk Israeli children from poor or abusive homes in Israel. With guidance, nurturing, and first-rate instruction, students learn the skills they need to succeed in modern-day Israel.”

More than ever, the members of Oceanside Hadassah are dedicated to supporting Israel during this very challenging time.
