An Oceanside man was arrested and charged with robbing a bank in Great Neck Plaza last December.

On Dec. 6, 2015 at 1 p.m., a man entered the Capital One Bank on Middle Neck Road in Great Neck Plaza. He gave the teller a note asking for money. The teller — a 22-year-old woman — complied, and the man fled in a blue or black BMW, according to Nassau County Police.

The crime was captured on surveillance footage. Five employees and one customer were also inside the bank during the robbery. No one was injured.

Police arrested and charged Jay Teich, 47, of Oceanside with the robbery. Teich surrendered to detectives on May 16 at 10 a.m. He was charged with third-degree robbery and was arraigned on the same day at First District Court in Hempstead. He is being held on $25,000 cash or bond bail. His next court day is May 18.

Police are still searching for the driver of the getaway car. Anyone with information regarding this crime is encouraged to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at (800) 244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
