Oceanside’s Levan Makashvili known as “The Hornet” came away with a majority draw in his Mixed Marshal Arts fight against Damon Jackson at their Jan. 30th bout.

With an illegal head strike and an eye poke he earned a 29-27 on one score card, but the other two ruled 28-28 which gave Makashvili the draw.

The five foot eight inch 146 pound featherweight fighter now has 7 wins including three knockouts or technical knockouts and two losses.

A Georgia native, Makashvili, speaking to Fox 18 after the fight said through an interpreter, “I beat him in standup, he could not take me down, I won every round. I lost the point for what I believe was a lie.” Makashvili said Damon was stalling and even if he lost one round he won every other round.

Makashvili added, “Once the eye poke was called, the referee had to do something, it’s his job, even if I did it, and I deserve that point to be taken away it does not mathematically add up. He could not beat me in any of the rounds.”

Jackson, known as “The Leech” now has nine wins and one loss. The 27-year-old five foot one fighter weighs in at 145 pounds and hails from Dallas, Texas.
