Ask the Fitness Expert

Q. I'm interested in hiring a personal trainer, but want the most out of it. I’m not looking to be a body builder, just get on track and learn how to meet my own fitness goals. What do you recommend I ask when looking for the right personal trainer?

A. A great personal trainer can certainly help motivate you to achieve your fitness goals, however finding the right trainer can be tricky. At Blink Fitness, where personal training sessions are affectionately called, “Happy Hours,” these one-on-one workouts are meant to give members the tools to exercise properly on their own or provide that extra bit of encouragement when stuck in a workout rut. In alignment with our Mood Above Muscle™ philosophy, Blink Fitness training sessions are designed to be motivating, fun, and tailored to each member’s unique goals.

Here are three questions I recommend you ask to help you find the best personal trainer for you.

1) Where did you get certified, and is it current?

· One of the most important aspects of finding the right trainer is ensuring he or she is qualified to do the job. Good trainers have nationally recognized certifications from respectable organizations that are up to date, and/or have degrees in the fitness field.

· Many gyms allow employees to start training if they agree to be enrolled in a certification program within 6 months of employment. Blink Fitness only hires current certified trainers to guarantee members a safe, efficient, and effective form of training.

2) What is your fitness story?
