When nail salons abound, people who utilize them know what to look for. Jimmy (“JJ”), who recently opened JJ Nails & Spa, wants individuals to try his services and then return for more. So, he has gone the extra mile to make his salon something special.

The décor is lovely, with shiny wood floors and contemporary wall art. Ten electronic massage pedicure recliners with foot baths line one wall, opposite the same number of fully equipped manicure stations. In the rear are four private rooms for massages, waxing and facials. Nail polishes, color gels and other products are on display. Everything is clean, tasteful and state-of-the-art, right down to the modern vessel sinks, sleek nail dryers, and high tech sanitizing devices.

JJ says he focuses on detail. He, his wife and the staff are all experienced and licensed. Facial products are from G.M. Collin of Paris, the Day Spa 2009 Editor’s Choice, introduced at the Oscars. Accoutrements used for manicures and pedicures are kept separately, never interchanged, for sanitary reasons. Regular customers are entitled to a free box equipped with a file, buffer, and callus stone for only his or her use.

After an offer I couldn’t refuse — to come in for a bit of pampering so I could describe everything better — I agreed and was pleasantly surprised. Starting with a Keratin Spa Pedicure (while the chair kneaded my back and neck), I enjoyed having my feet warmly soaked and then wrapped in Keratin gloves under hot towels, and my legs and feet massaged with cream and heated stones. Results were silky soft feet, pretty polish, and extreme relaxation. Next came a beautiful manicure while another person massaged my neck and back. And of course, while my nails dried, I received yet another neck rub. (Who doesn’t love to be kneaded?)

JJ Nails & Spa offers a comprehensive brochure listing all services, packages and prices.
