A Queens man scammed an Oceanside business for nonexistent boiler work, according to Nassau County police.

On April 25, a man, 52, wrote a $7,500 check to Orin Morris, 48, of 169th Street, Queens for work on a boiler at an Oceanside business office. Morris asked that the check be written out to Pro Form Piping, and said that he and Brooklyn-based NCA Plumbing and Heating would work on the boiler together.

The check was cashed but Morris did not do any work, and he surrendered to the police before they did their investigation. The police arrested Morris on Aug. 12 at 8:15 a.m.

Morris was charged with third-degree Grand Larceny. He was arraigned on Aug. 12 at First District Court in Hempstead, and released with no bail, and promised to attend future court dates.
