Robbie's Run set for Sunday, April 27, in Merrick

Posted

The ninth annual Robbie’s Run will take place on Sunday, April 27, at Levy-Lakeside Elementary School and on the nearby streets of south Merrick. The event, which includes a 5K run, a one-mile mini-run and a half-mile children’s fun run, is held in memory of 9-year-old Robbie Levine, a Merokean who died of sudden cardiac arrest while running the bases during a Little League baseball practice in 2005.

The event benefits Forever 9: The Robbie Levine Foundation, which purchases automated external defibrillators for school ball fields and holds classes in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. There will be food and entertainment during and after the races. The festivities will begin at 8:30 a.m. More information is available at www.robbielevinefoundation.org.

Robbie's Run will begin on Lindenmere Drive, on the north side of Cammans Pond, and head south on Lindenmere, then turn right turn on Shore Drive and up Clubhouse Road before making a right turn on Beach Drive, a right on Cynthia, a left on Nelson Court, a left on Joyce, a left on Julian Lane, a right turn on Rosebud and a left on Florence. The race then heads north on Beach before making a right on Alice, a left on Montauk, a right turn onto Merrick Road and finally a right onto Babylon Road into the driveway of Levy-Lakeside, where the race ends.
