Shelter offering free adoptions this Saturday

Posted

A new adoption season will kick off at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter on Saturday, April 11 as the shelter hosts “Spring Fling: Spring Ahead to a New 4-Legged Love.” From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., all pet adoptions are free, and adopters will go home with a free photo with their new family member.

“We encourage all local pet lovers to come visit the wonderful cats and dogs at the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter on April 11,” said Supervisor Kate Murray. “With all fees waived, there’s no better time to adopt!”

In addition to free adoptions, owners will not pay fees for spaying or neutering, rabies vaccinations, age-appropriate shots or microchipping. All adopters will receive a free cat or dog goody bag.

The shelter will set the scene for a great spring adoption event with live music, face painting, raffles and much more. All residents who bring a pet toy or bag of treats will be eligible for a door prize.

Animal shelter staff will be on hand to assist all interested pet adopters. Residents can visit www.toh.li/animal-shelter to browse photos and information about cats and dogs available for adoption.

The Hempstead Town Animal Shelter is located at 3320 Beltagh Ave. in Wantagh. For more information, call (516) 785-5220.
