Students win VFW essay contest
The Veterans of Foreign War posted a question in their annual essay contest: is the constitution still relevant? Three students wrote eloquently on why it still is and were awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the contest. Members of Oceanside’s VFW Post #5199 handed out the awards to Jessica Sammon, 1st Place, Woodlyn Daniel, 2nd Place and Averi Amsterdam, 3rd Place. The vets also spoke with a group of students who had entered the competition about what the VFW does for veterans and what their experiences were as members of the armed forces.
