The Little Couple thinks big

TV reality stars to host discussion, book signing at Madison Theatre

Reality TV stars Bill Klein and Jen Arnold are just like your average couple — except for the fact that they are both under four feet tall. But the best-selling authors really do think big.
As TLC’s “The Little Couple,” airing since 2009, viewers follow Klein and Arnold as they embark on the ups and downs of life together in Texas with their two adopted children, William, almost 6, and Zoe, 4.

Now in its ninth season, the show has documented the couple’s marriage, the adoption of their son, Will, from China, and daughter, Zoe, from India, both in 2013 (The children are also little people). At the end of that year, Arnold revealed that she was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer due to a non-viable pregnancy she had suffered a few months before. The cameras documented her battle. She’s in remission, and goes back for checkups periodically.

Klein and Arnold, bestselling authors of “Life is Short (No Pun Intended),” have co-written a new book, “Think Big,” an inspirational book that encourages readers to reach for their dreams, no matter what obstacles they may face. Drawing from their most popular speaking presentations, “Think Big” is a guide for dreaming big, setting goals, and the steps needed to get there. They will share their wisdom with local fans next week when they appear at the Madison Theatre in Rockville Centre on April 12.

“I wish I had a recipe for everyone,” said Klein in a phone interview with Stepping Out. “But everything comes to fruition by the way we approach things … Jen and I look at things with a level of optimism, and try to avoid the pitfalls when we encounter them … those things that may keep you from reaching your goals.”
On the way to becoming a preeminent neonatologist (Arnold) and a successful entrepreneur (Klein) — as well as parents and television stars — this couple has faced prejudice, medical scares, and the uncertainty of life with special needs children. Even though they have dealt with fear, depression, hopelessness, and the urge to give up, they have found a way to persevere.
