Generations of past and present students of Lynbrook’s West End School came together for a picnic that marked the schools anniversary of 90 years.

Families spread out picnic dinners while children enjoyed sack races, lawn bowling and other games. Alumni took a trip down memory lane, browsing through yearbooks and old pictures and sharing recollections of their years at West End School. The celebration was truly a family affair, as children delighted in finding old pictures of their parents when they were West End students. Among the notable alumni in attendance was Don Roth, who graduated from the school in 1954.

The picnic was the culminating activity marking this milestone in the history of West End School. In the days leading up to it, alumni visited every grade level to speak about their experiences and to share what has changed since their time at the school. Throughout the week, students dressed in clothing representing the different decades of the school. They also decorated the main hallway with paper balloons listing their favorite West End memories. Each class completed a top 10 list of the most popular books, movies and songs of the current year. The lists were then placed in an anniversary binder as a “time capsule” for future generations.
