Car collision in East Meadow sends five children, two adults to NUMC

An SUV collided with a sedan on Thursday night, launching it onto the lawn of a nearby home.

Police were alerted of the collision, which took place at the intersection of North Jerusalem Road and East Meadow Avenue, at 6:24 p.m.

The driver of the SUV was driving five children to a dance school at the time of the accident, according to Chief George Serviss of the North Bellmore Fire Department.

There were not life-threatening injuries reported, but the six people in the SUV and the driver of the sedan were all transported to the Nassau University Medical Center. The driver of the SUV suffered a minor wrist injury and one of the children suffered a minor knee injury, according to Serviss.

In addition to the North Bellmore Fire Department, assistance was provided by the East Meadow Fire Department and Bellmore-Merrick Emergency Medical Services.
