Honoring the South Nassau Communities Hospital volunteers

South Nassau Communities Hospital volunteers were recognized at the Oceanside hospital’s annual Volunteer Recognition Luncheon on April 11.
South Nassau’s volunteer program consists of more than 375 volunteers who work throughout the hospital. The theme of this year’s Volunteer Awards Ceremony was “Our Volunteers Light the Way,” which testifies to the selflessness and the commitment of the volunteers. The Shining Star Award specifically recognizes volunteers who have exhibited exceptional volunteer service or have enhanced the patient experience in a special way. Abigail Diamant of Cedarhurst and Wendy Giordonello of Inwood were the recipients. Diamant has volunteered 915 hours at the hospital over four years and Giordonello has volunteered 444 hours during the past two years. Along with the hospital volunteers, the luncheon was attended by local civic leaders, elected officials and South Nassau board members.
